As you look back at the cross, you see that Christ was crucified for you and that your old self, the body of sin, “Was crucified with Him” (Romans 6:6). So by faith you are now to “Consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus” Romans 6:11 (NASB). You are to live in the present tense as did Paul when He said, “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me” Galatians 2:20 (NASB).
