The Western mind prizes the practical and efficient. We have become slaves to it. It filters into our spiritual lives and into the church when we end up chasing methods instead of the Spirit. There are no shortcuts, no clever methods when it comes to the ministry of the Spirit. We cannot bring Him down by any human manipulations. We can wait before Him. We can listen for Him and to Him. We can move with His flow and in His time. We need to be very open to the ministry of the Spirit in worship. The Spirit of Christ is the source of our inspiration and the object of our worship.
“Don’t grieve God. Don’t break his heart. His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for himself. Don’t take such a gift for granted.” (Ephesians 4:30 MSG)
