As the Lord speaks and whispers to individual souls, so He speaks messages to congregations. Each of the letters to the seven local churches of Revelation end with, “He who as an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.” God is waiting for sensitive ears to direct the local body. The true Head of the church leads us by the words of His teachings and the voice of His Spirit. The church so needs to hear!
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” John 16:13 (NASB)
