Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27 ESV). We live in a time when fear is ever present; fear is often stoked for political purposes. Even so-called “anointed preachers of prophecy” often generate more fear than they do hope and peace. “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” (2 Timothy 1:7 ESV). The Spirit is us gives an inner peace that the world cannot give us. Our connectedness to the Spirit is our peaceful place.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23a NASB).
