The baptism of the Spirit is nothing if it is not a baptism of love (Romans 5:5). The filling of the Spirit is meant to displace everything in our heart, life and actions that is not in accord with love. God is love! The Spirit is God! “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love” (1 John 4:7-8 NASB). The people of the Spirit are people who love. Since God is in them they cannot but love.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23a NASB).
