The Spirit calls us to holiness. He enables us in its pursuit. He Himself is the Reward of our entry into it. The call is God’s invitation to be “partakers of the divine nature.” The Spirit lifts up Jesus; the Spirit guides us in the Way of Holiness, which is none other than Christ Himself. Holiness is not something in addition to Jesus, it is just more of Jesus. It is a passion to have more of Him while giving Him all of us. The Spirit has to be in the middle of that.
“For God did not call us to impurity but in holiness. Therefore whoever rejects this rejects not human authority but God, who also gives his Holy Spirit to you.” 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 (NRSV)
