We must not make the filling of the Spirit merely our private experience of God. At Pentecost the Spirit was poured out on all the believing community. In the Acts’ account there are three “They all’s”. “They all gave themselves single-heartedly to prayer” (1:14). “They were all together in one place” (2:1). “They were all filled with the Holy Spirit! (2:4). Never underestimate the power of collective prayer from the church.
