In the selection of the 12 disciples one might ask the question, “Can these 12 people even get along with each other?   Can a Zealot even be in the same room with a tax collector?  Would the hot tempers of the Sons of Thunder, James and John not create ongoing problems?  Mix all of these with Thomas, and a bunch of rugged fishermen, and see what will happen.  What held them together?  Jesus!  What did they have in common?  Jesus!  Who sent them out to change the world?  Jesus!  If they had not been disciples, they would not have even liked each other.  Jesus changed that.  When we have Jesus as our common meeting place, differences can be set aside for Him and our common Father.

“Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.  And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles”. Luke 6:12-13 (NKJV)
