I heard my friend and fellow minister Rev. Richard Prince say in a sermon, “Trusting in Jesus is a process.” I was arrested by his thought. Trust is more than a past moment of saving faith. Trust is indeed a process. It must be lived out in the midst of all the tests that come to us. It is hard to trust when you are hanging by a thread, but trust you must. It is difficult to trust when you have run out of energy and resources. The process of trust is lived out in our grief, illness, loneliness, joblessness, depression and brokenness. It is to be reaffirmed in every challenge, disappointment and frustration.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
