King Jesus was not elected. He was appointed by His Father. He entered the flesh of His subjects. His Kingdom is not a democracy. He does not rule by polls, nor advance His work by political maneuvering. His Spirit works to move hearts toward His cause. As the Suffering Servant King, He laid down His life for the people. His citizens know that no matter what earthly rulers do, Messiah still reigns. They do not fret over rulers who sit on earthly thrones. They rest in the Ruler who is over all rulers. They pray, “Thy Kingdom come!”
Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.
How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great King over all the earth!
Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.
For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.
God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. Psalm 47:1-2,6-8 (NIV)
