There are pleasures in sin for a season (Hebrews 11:25). The problem is that the pleasure becomes a part of the reward system of our psyche reaching literally into the very cells of our body. The pleasure that sin give become intrenched in our cells in self-justifying ways that make it difficult for us to accept or want rescue or recovery. To be free means that we must hear the call of grace and start to want its energy. When we start to see sin’s pleasures, not as treasures, but as chains, then we are on the way to rescue and recovery.
“Jesus replied, ‘I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin…so if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.’” John 8:34, 36 (NIV)
