“But you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble” 1 Corinthians 8:9 (NLT). What if we used our freedom to care in love for those around us? What if we would change our mind about freedom being all about me and my rights and make it all about what is good for my brothers and sisters? You can use your freedom to please yourself at the expense of the community; you can use your freedom to be hurtful or helpful. If I am my brother’s keeper than it changes how I use my freedom. Underneath the forest floor is a superstructure of roots where each tree supports another. We should not chip away at that in the name of freedom. We need that. We need each other.
