Our Daily Bread

In the Lord’s prayer we pray for daily bread; we lift daily needs to Him.  But we are instructed to pray, “Give us this day OUR daily bread” (Matthew 6:11).  To pray OUR is to realize we don’t have an exclusive need for provisions.  As Christians we don’t eat like a wolf with his foot on his bone.  We eat and pray in light of community and pray “our bread”.  We are joining hands with all mankind when we pray, “give US”. Our relationship with OUR Father requires relationship with His other children.  How often do we pray for “our brothers and sisters” who suffer from inadequate bread?  Does not saying “OUR” call us to share our bread?
