Your Kingdom
“Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). This prayer helps us to define what the kingdom is. “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. Ultimately the kingdom of God is where God’s will is done. His will is perfectly done in heaven, and this prayer asks that His will be done on earth and in my life in the same way it is done in heaven. “Thy kingdom come” is an invitation for Him to establish His kingship in me.” Jesus, come set up your government in me. You are my King! Govern all my actions, words, and thoughts. When we call Him “Lord”, do we mean it? Remember, He warned us by asking, “Why call ye me “Lord, Lord” and do not the things I say?” Many pray this prayer with no intention of surrendering their wills to Christ as their King. Their lips say “Lord we want you as King”. Their actions say, “We have no king but Caesar”. We want to be our own person more than we want to be God’s person. We want to sit at the controls. This attitude forever brings us in conflict with the Kingdom of God.
