Our Father (C)
“Our Father who is in Heaven, Hallowed be your name” (Matthew 6:9). To say “our Father” reminds us we are not to be selfish or exclusive. He is the Father of other children than myself. My needs cannot be met in reckless disregard for the welfare of the larger family. My request must take that into mind as well. We pray in this prayer for “our daily bread”. Our prayers, our worship, our asking must keep in mind His other children whom the Father loves as much as He does you and me. All of His children are to pray, “Our Father.”
