Lead Us Not
“Lead us not into temptation” (Matthew 6:13a). Jesus even taught that prayer would help us avoid some temptations. “Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). Jesus taught us to pray about temptation and pray to avoid it. This will lessen our probability of falling. Most yielding will never happen when we are in constant communication with the Father. “Pray without ceasing”. Prayer helps us see the spiritual and eternal issues beyond short-term gratification. Praying about a temptation may not lessen its intensity, but it will make it more possible for us to overcome!
