Our Daily Bread (B)
“Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11) is a prayer for daily replenishment. Daily we depend on Him by this prayer. In Luke it is give us “day by day” our bread. As Israel needed manna everyday so do we need spiritual and physical nourishment each day. We are to pray today and fret not about tomorrow. There is no substitute for daily dependence on our Father; we never graduate from it. Neither should we desire it. It is better to be a pauper and feel a need for God than a rich person who might never feel it. Poor or rich, we all need God, even daily.
