The problem with the law is that it cannot save us. It can point out our sins but cannot forgive us. It can show our captivity, but it cannot set us free. We need a Savior who will intervene. The saved need a new principle within, something that will enable them to no longer follow the desires of the flesh. They need something that is more than a superior moral code. They need the Spirit of God to live inside of them, living out the royal law of love (Ja 2:8).
“For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:3-4 (NASB)
