“Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word…It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes” Psalm 119:67, 71 (NASB). There are things that we learn in suffering which we learn no other way. We can discover a deep intimacy with the Suffering Servant when sufferings come near. This seems to be anti-intuitive. The truth is, it is one of the great treasures that we find. Anything that draws us closer to our Lord is a good thing.
“If Your law had not been my delight, Then I would have perished in my affliction.” Psalm 119:92 (NASB)
