“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Rom 8:14). The context of the verse is that the primary leading of the Spirit is to put to death the sinful nature and the “misdeeds” (NIV) of the body. We have conveniently reduced the leading of the Spirit to personal direction, making the Spirit serve our convenience. The real issue is that the Spirit leads the children of God by walking with them through the corridors of their mind and heart to bring up for crucifixion things with sin in them. Lead us on and out, oh Spirit!
