“Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” is coupled with good news. The kingdom of God has arrived with King Jesus. The good news, or “gospel of the kingdom,” is that Jesus is God’s promised Messiah sent to establish the Kingdom of God. Good news has been made to serve the evangelical view of personal salvation. It is that, but it is much bigger than that. The good news is that the Kingdom of God has been brought near by Jesus and that the King of the Jews is also Lord of the Gentiles and the whole earth. He will not stop until His Kingdom has come, and His will is done on earth, as it is in heaven.
“Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the good news.” Mark 1:14-15
