Hear Micah’s echo of the Isaiah fast in these words, “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8 NIV). When you reduce Christianity to having a religious experience you empty it of most of its content. Yes, we can and do experience God in a conversion moment, but we also experience God when we walk with Him in daily humility, learning to act justly and right in human relationships, showing mercy as He has shown mercy to you, and loving to do it. This is holiness in action. “There is no holiness that is not social holiness” (John Wesley). This is discipleship in action; this is following Jesus. This is experiencing God in serving our fellow humans.
