You can even hear echos of the Isaiah fast (58:5-7) in the mission of the twelve. “As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:7-8 NIV). There is Jubilee in the preaching of the arrival of the Kingdom of God. We are to advance this Jubilee by compassionate works and evangelism until the day that righteousness rolls down (Amos 5:23-24) to cover the earth in the full and final manifestation of the Kingdom of God.
