Jesus is alive.  Death is defeated.  The world commands us to keep quiet and let everyone enjoy their own private spirituality.  The early disciples said, “We cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”  They could not keep quiet about the Resurrected One; God’s long promised messiah had arrived.  He came out of the grave with a body like none had ever seen; the promised future had arrived.  They went out to turn the world upside down, never wavering, never silent, even paying with their own lives.  They were bearers of an irrepressible message.  May this message grip us like it gripped them.

“And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge; for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:18-20 (NASB)
