The heart is the inner person that we are and that we are becoming. The heart is the unvarnished truth of who I am with all of my secrets. The great work of our lives is done at the level of the heart. It is there that we have a desperate need for authenticity. We can search our own heart by searching the heart of God; that is where we are exposed. This is where I see how unlike the God of love that I really am. It is where I ask for a deeper cleansing.
Father, may we gaze long and hard at You. May that vision enable us to become more and more like You. Amen.
