Jesus intentionally moved among hurting people. He surrounded Himself with them. He did not go out of His way to miss them. He served them to the point of physical exhaustion. He did not seek a place of luxury so that He would have a lifestyle above them. He only retreated from them for necessary rest so He could return to them renewed. The OT called for shepherd kings that would attend to the poor and their needs. Jesus embodied that kind of king more than all who went before Him. He established that kind of Kingdom for all who came after Him.
And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. Mark 6:31 (NKJV)
