After the Exodus, a pool of bitter water was made sweet by casting a particular tree into it.  This tree was a type of healing.  The church, through the years, has seen this tree as pointing to the cross.  Because of that tree, we have the Water that gives life.  Following the way of the cross, there is healing and health from the diseases belonging to the house of bondage.  Following the way of the cross makes us dispensers of the sweet life-giving water promised by Jesus (Jn 4:14).

The LORD showed him (Moses) a tree; and he threw it into the waters, and the waters became sweet…And He said, “If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the LORD, am your healer.” Ex 15:25-26 (NASB).
