Hear this grand invitation, “Come to me” and “Take my yoke”; this is the solution to so much of what troubles and burdens us. I have to keep going to Him with my pain. I have to readjust and take up the yoke again and again. My old patterns of coping don’t serve me well. His yoke gets me through a lot of hurt and disappointment. Fretting and worry do not work; anxiety and fear are just further downers. Lord, I come to You for soul rest and I take Your yoke for labor and living.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV)
