Paul, in one of his prayers, speaks of the “God who gives endurance and encouragement” (Rom 15:5a). This is a wonderful statement, expressing one of the many facets of helping grace. By His Spirit God speaks encouragement to our minds and grants grace for endurance. This is a reminder that we are not alone. There is One with us who can refortify our souls with the encouragement of His Spirit. He will enable us to “endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” (2 Tim 2:3).
