Our problem is that we have divorced the gospel from the NT message of the Kingdom and made it only about personal salvation with a free ticket out of here. The very first message of John the Baptist, of Jesus and the twelve was this: “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven has arrived.” It was heard as, “God’s promised government is here, and Jesus is the Messiah/King of the Kingdom.” The rejected King in the days of Samuel has come down to earth. God has reaffirmed kingship through Messiah’s Kingdom. Caesar is no longer Lord, nor Is anyone else. Jesus is Lord! The governments of the earth are to give way to the rule of King Jesus. May this worldview get us off of ever-present side tracks so we can live out this grand truth.
“Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven…for Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever.” Amen!
