Does the Lord who dwells within us feel our pain?  Does the parent feel it when their children suffer?  In the unfolding consequences of incarnation Jesus felt our pain.  He entered a fallen world where suffering is built into the disorder of things.  Does He feel?  He feels our physical suffering and emotional suffering.  He feels the weight of generational sin.  He feels our rejection, humiliation, abuse and shame.  He feels the addiction of the addict.  He feels the rejection of all who are rejected.  He weeps with all who weep.  He knows.  He feels.  He cares.  We worship the God who feels pain; the cross is about that.  If we would be like Him, we would notice and feel the pain of those around us.

Lord, help us to not be so absorbed in our comfort and ease that we do not feel the manifold, and sometimes invisible, pain of those around us.  Amen!
