In Jesus’ day there were those who looked longingly back to the past glory of the tabernacle and the temple.  The odd thing about all of that is, Jesus was that Glory present with them and few saw it; the disciples did.  “The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” John 1:14 (KJV).  The Glory still dwells with us by His Spirit.  We do not have to go to the past to find it.  We need to let the Glory which is present with us manifest itself in His temple.  We are the temple.  The Glory is where the Spirit is.

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NASB).
