When we fail to forgive another, there are consequential fruits that come from it. (1) We fail to be seen as fully Christian in our witness. (2) It embitters our own soul. (3) It spills over into our family, and our children become negatively influenced. They may even walk away from the Lord and the church because they too have not forgiven what “they did to us.” Is nursing your hurt worth losing your kids? (4) It fractures and cripples the church. Whole congregations can get stuck in choosing sides, which poisons the life of community. (5) We forget that we have trespassed as well. (6) We do not practice the Lord’s prayer to forgive us as we forgive others.
