“The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Psalm 118:6, Hebrews 13:6).   The fear of the opinions of others can cause us to waver in our commitment to truth.  The fear of man distorts justice (Deuteronomy 1:17).  There is a difference in respecting another and fearing another.  When we hold God in the place of holy awe and tremble before Him, we can never tremble before a mere man.  When we are more concerned about what God knows and thinks about us than man, we will never crumble before opinion polls.  When we hold Him high and lifted up, we will never go chasing after the celebrities of pop culture.

“The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe.” Proverbs 29:25 (ESV)
