When we are born into the family of God we have the seed of God in us. We look like and begin to act as the Father by having His DNA. We grow to love what He loves and to love like He loves. By His grace in us we resist temptation and willful sin as being contrary to who we are as sons and daughters of God. The NT says the way we love others and resist evil is the mark of having our Father’s DNA.
“No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother” I John 3: 9-10.
“But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in Heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” Matthew 5:44-45, 48.
