When we compare ourselves to the vastness of the universe, we are less than specks of cosmic dust. We are so small in this grand cosmos, but the God who made us did not make us to be insignificant. He made us in His image to be His image bearers in creation. He made us to have dominion and rule and reign with Him. Down deep inside of us, we know that it is true. The comparison of humanity to this vast universe is invalid in the light of what God has made us to be.
“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?” Psalm 8:3-4 (NRSV)
