Advent Glimpses of our Future
Death hangs over the head of every human. Death is 100% for all of us, until the Lord returns. It parts the body and its breath. It parts loved ones from their families. It reminds us that it has the last word, but it really does not. The resurrection of Jesus changed all of that. Jesus gives us victory over our own deaths. By His death He trampled down death. He is life. Death could not hold Him. Neither can it hold us since we are in Christ and Christ is in us.
“He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken” (Isaiah 25:8 ESV).
“For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:53-55 NLT)
