We have put ourselves in the untenable place of trying to defend our moral and ethical stances to a secular culture apart from Christ being the focal point of one’s life. He is why we do what we do, why we avoid what we avoid and why we pursue what we pursue. The world cannot understand this. The Christian way of living cannot be understood apart from Christ being the central goal of our lives. Christ is still calling us to live out the true meaning of our baptisms; we are to die on the cross with Him and we are to be buried with Him, so that we can really walk in newness of life. Until the world sees Christ in us, until they come to know Him, defending our ethic to them and correcting theirs is useless.
