When we read the Word of God, it reads us. The Word of God is living, alive by the Spirit and the Living Word Himself. When I am reading it, He is reading me. It is like a sword that is as precise as a surgeon’s scalpel. It reveals, judges and corrects heart intent. It is like a mirror that lets us see our inexcusable self. It “reproves, corrects, and instructs us in what is right” (2 Timothy 3:16). Read the word and while you are at it let the Word read you.
“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4:12-13 (NASB)
