The greatest teacher in your life may not be the good times but the bad times.  It may not be when you are walking your favorite trail but when you are hanging on by the tips of your fingers.  It may not be when you are laughing with friends but when you are crying.  Tears may wash your eyes for clearer vision.  Hard times have a way of teaching us.  Struggles have a way of strengthening us.

Walking with Pleasure and Sorrow

I walked a mile with Pleasure;

She chatted all the way;

But left me none the wiser

For all she had to say.

I walked a mile with Sorrow,

And ne’er a word said she;

But, oh! The things I learned from her,

When sorrow walked with me.  -Robert Browning Hamilton
