Paul was a great persecutor of the church.  He said in his testimony, “I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and putting both men and women into prisons” Acts 22:4 (NASB).  After his conversion to Christianity, he was shown by Jesus, “How much he must suffer for My name’s sake” Acts 9:16 (NASB).  And suffer he did (2 Cor 11:22-28)!  In the end, Paul was beheaded.  Absent from the body, he was present with his Lord (2 Cor 5:8).  He would proclaim Jesus being the promised Messiah, no matter the price!  May it be so with us!

“Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.  But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”  2 Timothy 3:12-13 (NASB)
