Christ advocated for us from the cross. He advocates for us now at the right hand of the Father. The Spirit advocates from within us. When the enemy mocks my forgiveness, I can point to the cross. When I am weak, I can sense the power of the Spirit in me begin to inspire prayers and help me to remember the important things. I know the Son is at the right hand of His and my Father interceding. The Spirit and the Son are in union with the Father who is for us. Rest in that.
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” John 14:26-27 (NRSV)
