Innocent boy babies were wiped out of Bethlehem by Herod’s brutal Roman forces. Mothers sobbed! The boy Jesus escaped, but only for a few years. He would return to a vocation of suffering and submit to a Roman death. Though the Roman cross was a tool of terror, Jesus turned it into an altar for sacrifice. Jesus embraced suffering, knowing that love would triumph over hate. It did! It still does! The terrorists did not win! The crucified Messiah did!
