The tabernacle was called the tent of meeting, because it was the place where the people would meet the Lord and the Lord would meet the people. It was “a good distance from the camp,” which meant that an effort would be required to get there. We believe that our Lord is with us at all times, and He is, but there are times that we need to go outside the camp, beyond our routines and be with Him to see His glory. Go out to meet Him; make the effort; see His glory; spend precious time in His Presence.
“Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, a good distance from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the LORD would go out to the tent of meeting which was outside the camp.” Exodus 33:7 (NASB)
