I love to grow things in my garden.  Sometimes I look back on a growing season to see things I did wrong that failed to produce the desired crop.  I have learned that growth is not automatic; it is a byproduct of doing the right things.  The soil may need to be amended and fertilizer added (Luke 13:8).  Water is always needed.  Weeds must be removed.  My spiritual growth is not automatic either.  I must tend my soil.  What is feeding my soil?  Why am I nurturing weeds?  I need to work at being a person who can grow. I want to be happy with the fruit I give Jesus.

Jesus, Oh, Gardener, help me to become productive soil so that I might bear good fruit.  Teach me!  Nourish me!  Water me!  Amen!
