David’s kingdom was being torn apart, and so was his family. He mourned everyday over what was happening. His child had turned on him. The wayward child hurts, and it hurts deeply. It is like living with a heavy weight on your heart. It is like trying to paddle when you are dragging an anchor. It can be a gloomy pall over a sunny day. It is something to be given to the Lord. It is hard to not let it paralyze you. You learn to go on, not letting it destroy your life. To survive, you make inner sadness your tears of intercession, never giving up hope for the one you love.
“Now Absalom fled and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.” 2 Samuel 13:37 (NASB)
