Christians have “tasted the power of the age to come” (Heb 6:5). They have tasted the kingdom of peace that anticipates “the lion lying down with the lamb”. They have tasted the time when “tanks and guns will be melted into farming tools” (Paraphrase of Mic 4:3; Joel 3:10; Isa 2:4). The words in their mouth and heart are flavored by peace. They have tasted peace by reconciliation and live out their vocation of being reconcilers (2 Cor 5:18-21). The only way to be equipped to live in the present age is to have tasted Messiah’s age to come. Children-of-God-peacemakers (Mt 5:9), followers of the Prince of Peace, live today the peace that is coming tomorrow.
“Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace” (From the prayer of St. Francis).
