On the cross, Jesus suffered death for everyone. When the Word was made flesh, it was destined to die. This is one of the places incarnation was headed. “He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross” (Php 2:8). Jesus “tasted death for everyone” as a gift of God’s marvelous grace. He tasted our death so we can taste His life. He died with us, and we die with Him. We die with Him that we might rise with Him.
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.” Hebrews 2:9 (NKJV)
