Our holiness is not merely about our pursuit to be “set apart”, though it can not be so without it. Holiness is the result of the interactions of our soul with a Holy God and real volitional cooperation with the Holy Spirit of God who lives inside of us. It is about receiving grace from the Holy in our pursuit of holiness. It is not done without our corporation and energy; it happens through our interaction with the divine energy of the Holy One. He is the One who said, “Be Holy,” and He initiates the synergy of grace to make it so.
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (NASB)
