A mountain goat amazes us with how surefooted they are.  He is ever feeling for a solid place for his foot.  If he, or we, are standing on unstable ground, it is another story.  There are some folks standing on shifting sand, and no matter how surefooted they think they are it is not going to work out.  The culture is sinking sand; politics is a quagmire.  It is like trying to plant both feet firmly in mid-air. Impossible!  You cannot stand firm on your health or your wealth; both can miserably fail you.  Jesus, our Rock, is the solid place to stand; He is the place to be if you want to be surefooted.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.  “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.  Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.  “The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”   (Matthew 7:24-27 NASB)
